Why you can trust this

You do not have to take our word for it. The code is public.

A common question from lawyers: does this program send client information to the internet? With Sidebarlex, the answer is verifiable, not promised. Every line of the software is published on GitHub under the AGPL-3.0 license, which means you, your IT consultant, or any third party can read the code and confirm exactly what it does.

Source code is public

Published on GitHub under AGPL-3.0. Anyone can read, audit, or fork it. There is no hidden module, no closed-source component, and no telemetry service we can flip on later.

No network calls after install

Once installed, Sidebarlex runs fully offline. You can unplug the ethernet cable, turn off Wi-Fi, and it still works. Your firewall will confirm: nothing leaves the computer when you ask it a question about a client file.

No vendor with your files

No cloud account. No login server. No subscription tied to an online service. If Sidebarlex, the company, disappeared tomorrow, your installation would keep working on your hardware with your data.

Three steps

Local AI for lawyers. Runs offline on your computer, pre-loaded with US legal knowledge.

1

Check your computer

Sidebarlex runs on any Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+ machine with at least 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and 100 GB of free storage. DDR5 is the memory standard in most computers sold from 2023 onward.

2

Apply to the Virginia pilot

The Virginia legal library is complete and validated. I am looking for three Virginia solo attorneys to test it on real cases before I open it up more broadly. Pass the hardware check, tell me about your practice, and you are in.

3

Test it on your real cases

I set it up on your computer, pre-load the Virginia Rules of Supreme Court plus the federal rules, and tune it to your practice area. You use it for a year. In return, you give me honest feedback. No payment, no call, no obligation.
